Trollmire Videos: Part 1 & Part 2
As with Norgos' Lair, there wasn't too much of note here. I run into a bit of an ambush on Trollmire 2 that I thought I handled pretty well. Trollmire 3 had a rare Archer troll that caught me by surprise and gave me a bit of a thrill until I started unloading on it. It dropped a rare necklace that I equipped 99% for the Heal skill it gave me. I was hoping for a bow or arrows, but an early heal isn't horrible either.
Prox went down pretty easily. I stumbled on him while I was exactly trying to avoid him, hoping against hope that I could earn another level before that fight; totally unnecessary of me, but meh. Even still, Prox did me a favor by knocking me back and costing himself turns of damage on me. He dropped a Halfing foot and (I believe) the girdle of calm waters, while I'll probably wear to the end like I've done twice before.
Bill's area was likewise pretty tame. I invest a generic point into Disengage and Track so I could try to avoid being ambushed by Bill while dealing with the other trolls hanging around. I couldn't spot him on Track, but luckily he didn't show up until I was done with the trash mobs anyway. He dropped me Tooth of the Maw, which I kept solely because you no longer have to equip a digger to use it (unless I dreamed that change somehow).
As for skills, we're currently sitting with:
Archery - Bows: 3/1/0/0
Archery Training: 3/0/0/0
Archery Prowess: 1(3)/1(3)/0/0
Race/Thalore: 1/0/0/0
Field Control: 1/1/0/0
Combat Training: 1/0/1/0/0
Which gives us a soft-bank of 4 class points and 3 generic points. After the Arena, which comes up next, we'll have 5 generic points laying around. Considering the requirements for Thick Skin and Combat Accuracy, we have more than enough generic points that I could invest them in other talents. I'm holding off on that because I want to see a thief escort or two, which will save me points I would've invested in Survival; if they don't show by the time of Dreadfel, I suppose I'll spend the points myself.
The other generic talents aren't worth the points, imo. Wrath of the Woods only lowers the cooldown, and since I only use it for bosses or rares that isn't very helpful. Track would be worth a few points, but it scales with Cunning and that's a late-game stat, if at all on this character. The Survival tree is in that same boat. Disengage could be worth points, but that's a skill entirely useful for the spacing and I don't want to get too far away even when I want to get away.
Next level will be 8, which opens the next racial talent (Unshackled, +6 Physical and Mental save), another point in Combat Accuracy, and will give me the choice of putting 2 points into Dex to get the next level of Bow Mastery or putting 2 points into Con for the first level of Thick Skin. It also gives me the possibility of going for Spell Shield, and looking at my massive 9 spell save I just may take a point in it. Rhaloren Camp is yet to be done, and that place is just dreadful.
