Video Links: Part 1 and Part 2
Old Forest actually had some action for a change. First floor, we get an escort for a Seer, which I sent to Zigur. Not the easiest rescue since the path meant going through every snake in the game. The escort even decided to take one of my arrows in the back for funsies. I took +2 Willpower as my reward, and all but officially made that earlier Call of the Wild Tree reward a waste. Not that big of a deal since the escort rewards tend to be either the best or completely unimportant.
Old Forest 2 was even better, giving us our Thief escort finally. Other than a close call with a flytrap, this was a decently easy rescue and we finally got our free point for Piercing Sight. I doubt I'll invest any of my own talent points there; mainly, it's there to give us a bonus to see invisible and stealth that will scale with our Cunning.
Old Forest 3 gave us a Warrior escort who, other than not knowing how to direction, was also an easy save. I debated on getting +2 Str, +1 Unflinching Resolve, or unlocking Conditioning for a while but ultimately took the tree. I don't know for sure that I'll spend the points to unlock it, but I like having the option. Getting to 5/5 Resolve could be really helpful and alleviate some of the burden of status immunities from our gear. We'll see.
Old Forest 4, I prove that I'm the most master strategerier ever when I pin that tree between myself and a rare wolf, because I needed it to stay put. Wrathroot shows up pretty quickly and gets his face blasted off in short order. Having such strong accuracy makes our debuffs nearly impossible to avoid at this point of the game, even for bosses. He dropped Earthen Beads, which I'd never seen before. I kept it because it could be a nice compliment to the Call of the Wild tree, if I decide to take that.
Lake Nur was mostly uneventful. I ran into a few monsters that I've never met before, but nothing that special. It went by fairly quickly since I went down floors as soon as I found them. I don't like that place.
I honestly don't remember the status of the skills at this point. I know I put a point into Armor Training so I could use the Helm of Garkul. I may wind up sticking with that for the rest of the game, so it's worth it. It also gets me all the gloves and boots, so it can go some distance.
